.22 caliber/5.5mm sub-500 fps Airguns

One of the jewels of my Airgun collection is my Hawthorne Montgomery Ward M-150, a rare variant of the Crosman model 150 .22cal. pellet pistol that was made around 1955.
This was the second vintage airgun that i bought.
i bought it from Mr.Marvin, and he told me that in his  35+ years in the airgun biz, he has never come across a Crosman model 150 in as close to 'New' condition.

my G.K.Arms TD-22 Custom is a Crosman model 2240, which is essentially, the grandchild of the model 150.

the Crosman model P1322 "American Classic" is a multi-pump pneumatic that has a similar design to the model 2240, but it is a consistently more powerful.
i like the P1322 with the 1399 Stock attached, a nice compact carbine!

Another heirloom airgun in my collection is my Beeman P-1 Magnum, which was made in Germany by Weihrauch.

my .24cal/6mm Kel-Tec PMR-30 is close enough to .22 caliber to be included in this post.

This is such a nice air pistol. the build quality is exquisite, and Colt 1911 walnut grips + Pierce rubber grip makes for  a stylish and ergonomic .22 caliber air pistol!

Beeman P1 Magnum .22cal. & Walther PPQ M2 T4E .43cal.

My Beeman P1 Magnum .22cal. spring piston air pistol & Walther PPQ M2 T4E .43cal. Co2 pistol, plus the extra PPQ T4E "Emergency" magazine represent $1100 of the hard earned dollars that I have invested in my AirGun hobby/collection.

A thousand dollar picture🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫

The Beeman P1 is by far the higher quality air pistol, and will probably still be shooting great long after I am dead.
Beeman first introduced the model P1 Magnum in the 1980's, and the following are pages from the 1984 and 1986 Beeman Precision AirGuns catalogs...

I have posted about the awesome Walther PPQ M2 T4E Co2 pistol and my favorite ammunition to feed it, RIOT-BALL!!!

Walther PPQ M2 T4E .43cal. Co2 Pistol

Umarex distributes the Walther PPQ M2 T4E .43cal. Co2 pistol.
"Riot-Ball" ammunition  roundball ammo made from PVC/nylon and is dense and very hard.
They are designed for "less than lethal" self defense and training.

I bought my Walther PPQ M2 T4E because when combined with Riot-Ball ammo, it is an amazing big bore Co2 pistol🔫

I bought 20 rounds of 5.2gram .43cal./10.85mm steel roundball from an eBay seller in Germany.
They load and cycle perfectly, but the muzzle velocity seems consistently around 150-170 fps, which creates the same muzzle energy of 5 fpe (foot-pounds) as the much lighter one gram/round  Riot-Ball ammo.

.43 caliber/10.85mm Ammunition Update re: Walther PPQ M2 T4E Co2 Pistol

I purchased 1000 rounds of PVC/nylon Riot-Ball ammo and the 13.3 grain .43 caliber Riot-Balls cost me 25¢ apiece, well worth the cost to feed this amazing Co2 Pistol!
I tested them once and got chronograph readings of as high as 423 for with a six shot average of 412 fps, which is over 5 foot-pounds of serious blunt force energy!

Then I saw a German AirGun reviewer demonstrating 10.85mm steel and lead balls, and I began to hunt, at first only finding 11mm steel balls on eBay, which I ordered an recieved 100 for less than $20 CDN.
Soon after, I came across a German eBay seller and different packages of 10, 20, 50 &100 10.85mm 5.2 gram steel balls ammo specifically sized for the .43 cal. T4E Co2 guns!!!
I ordered 20 rounds to make sure they actually fit, because the 11 mm balls from China were 0.15mm too large!!!

My 20 round package arrived yesterday, and they fit perfectly!
At 5.2 gram or over 80 grains, these 10.85mm alloy steel balls could be absolutely devastating to anything they hit, but I don't know how hard the Walther PPQ M2 T4E Co2 pistol can shoot them.

I will test them with my chronograph any day, and will update this post with some stats soon after that.

UPDATE:
I tested the 5.2 gram 10.85mm/.43cal. steel ball ammo with my Walther PPQ M2 T4E Co2 pistol, and I recorded shots as high as 170 fps and averaged about 160 fps ...
This is definitely a close range ammunition. Perhaps 5 to 7 meters .

The 13.3 grain PVC/nylon polymer Riot-Balls are definitely the best ammunition choice for this particular Co2 gun.

Walther/T4E PPQ M2 .43 caliber Co2 Air Pistol

This is a .43 caliber Co2 powered replica  airgun that is designed to shoot paint ball, dust balls, pepper balls, rubber balls & nylon riot balls.

I have ordered 500 rounds of the black .43 caliber PVC/nylon "RIOT-Balls" for my recently purchased Walther PPQ M2-T4E Co2 pistol.
500 rounds of .43 caliber Riot-Ball ammo cost $125 CDN (25¢/round)

It is intended as a training tool and "less lethal" self defense weapon.
Michael at "replica AirGuns" tested his PPQ M2 and with T4E brand .43 cal. rubber ball ammo, he got chronograph results as high as 330 fps, and an average around 315 fps.

I don't know how much the ammo weighs, so I have no way of calculating the muzzle energy.

I just bought the last black finish Walther PPQ M2 from replica AirGuns, so I will do some of my own testing once it arrives.

I bit the bullet and bought myself a Walther PPQ M2 T4E .43 caliber Co2 pistol from replica airguns dot CA and 500 rounds of black "Riot-Ball" ammo from Amazon for 25¢/round.
I tested it to make sure there were no leaks and shot a few rounds through my AceTech ac-6000 chronograph, with a high of 423 fps and a four shot average of 412 fps.
I will eventually see how accurate this Co2 pistol can be.
